SAFETY STAND DOWN 2019
Safety Stand Down Week will take place from June 17-21 this year. Fire departments are encouraged to suspend all non-emergency activity during this time to focus on training and education related to this year’s theme: Reduce Your Exposure: It’s Everyone’s Responsibility
As part of the activities, VFIS will be releasing a daily safety tip each day next week. Be sure to look for these tips and share them with your personnel.
2019 Topics Include:
- Carcinogen Inhalation
- Carcinogen Absorption
- Carcinogen Ingestion
- Carcinogen Injection
- Chemical Exposure
Safety Stand Down focuses on the critical importance of responders taking care of themselves both on and off of emergency incident scenes. The week is designed to decrease the number of preventable injuries and deaths within fire and emergency services, and to increase awareness and action so that safety and health become a constant priority among all fire departments.
Safety Stand Down is the unification of the IAFC's Fire/EMS Safety, Health and Survival Week with the NVFC's National Firefighter Health Week. The goal of both organizations is to reduce the number of preventable injuries and deaths in fire and emergency services. Learn more at www.nvfc.org or www.iafc.org today.
